The 9 Month Update: You Rock My World Dude!

So HL what are you up to these days... 9 months has flown by as you can see from various previous posts... I still can't believe I have a NINE month old :::::shakes head::::: You are turning into the coolest kid and I say that in the most UN biased way possible, seriously dude you ROCK!

As of today you weigh 19 lbs 4 ounces which keeps you in the 25% despite everyone wanting to call you "huge", and you're 26 1/2" long which is also on the little end- 10%. But you're almost too big for your infant seat and you are wrecking my back carrying it anyway so we've switched to the "big boy" carseat about 90% of the time.

You can say Mama and Dada and Buhbuhbuh... which we're coaxing into "buh bye"... we're also working on waving but you're mostly interested in just flailing your hands around and banging on anything and everything possible especially when mom spills baby food on the highchair tray, thank you for flinging food across the kitchen on a daily basis.

You're doing really great with the baby sign language and learning cues, you have understood the sign for "milkie" (as we call it) for months and you are now such a big boy that you hold your long heavy bottle all by yourself. You understand the words for "more" and "all done" and you've mastered the sippy cup.

You are totally slacking in the movement department, child you will NOT crawl, you completely veto that idea and have quite the fit when placed on your stomach as if you're screaming at us "GUYS I can't see anything from here pick me up for the love of God!" And you have quite the little temper and attitude on you at times... so much so that I often picture your voice as Stewie from Family Guy and it makes me smile ;)

You're also slacking in the teeth department, they keep debuting for a couple of days and then disappear so that everyone thinks I am insane, nice.

However, what I learned today at your 9 month appointment: The average age for crawling is 10 1/2 months, so really you aren't behind!! And the average age for a first tooth is 9-12 months, so you aren't behind in that department either!! I'm pretty sure it's your ploy to encourage momma's patience...

On the flip side you are crazy in your walker, you know exactly how to manuever that thing and you can walk with assistance SOO good that I'm sure you'll be walking very soon. You can also stand up for hours at the ottoman and have just started trying to pull yourself up with the Jumperoo poles... I wish there were something easier for you to practice with?? You also have started flipping yourself onto your stomach while you're sleeping and scream in bloody horror about it, yet you continue to do it....

You think the dogs are hilarious and love to rip out handfuls of their hair, luckily they like you and don't chomp your hands off when you torture them. You still sleep in the pack n play in our room because Daddy doesn't want you to leave but the time is coming...

And overall your Daddy and I are absolutely amazed at you... you are a joy to watch... pure and perfect joy. You are so smart and are learning at an incredible rate. You are our constant reminder to live EACH day, to be present in the moment because it goes by so fast. I cherish the moments that I rock you to sleep for every nap and for the baths and sly smiles that you give me. You rock my world HL, you are one amazing little boy...

Love,
Momma

Soooo sweet!
I heard something that babies will either do the physical thing first like crawling- as opposed to talking, which sounds like HL. (And my B- he is the crawler but not into saying "mama" and "dada") They can't master both skills simultaneously.

Thank you!

haha, your description of HL sounds like my daughter Miabella to the T :) And they practically share a bday, she was born 11/3/09.
